KIW 2026 winner Jang Jae-woong sees KOSPI 8000 as a buying chance
TL;DR: At the KIW 2026 awards in Seoul on May 14, 2026, Jang Jae-woong won the Hankyung-Timefolio stock contest with a 78.54% return and explained his leader-stock strategy.

Jang Jae-woong was presented as the grand-prize winner at the third Hankyung-Timefolio KIW Stock Investment Competition awards, held on May 14, 2026, at the Shilla Hotel in Jangchung-dong, Seoul, during KIW 2026. In the two-month contest that began in January, he posted a 78.54% return, beating the KOSPI’s 48.17% gain over the same period by more than 30 percentage points. A total of 2,145 participants aged 34 or younger competed with 1 billion won in virtual assets. Jang said his performance came from combining the timing of market money flows with companies’ growth phases and holding space and IT leaders for longer. Hankyung reported that he focused on opportunity rather than overheating concerns around KOSPI 8000. Source: hankyung.com
